Practice Manager
“Occupational therapists manage time, prioritize, and support the management of effective and efficient practice” (CAOT, 2012)
My
SKILLS
As an upcoming member of the occupational therapy profession, it is important to begin practicing using sustainable management practices by using resources efficiently. This will enable the implementation of effective services for clients to engage in occupation. During my second placement, I was able to manage my caseload by preparing prior to the arrival of my preceptor. This involved gathering incoming referrals, creating a list of priorities, and completing chart reviews for new patients. Furthermore, I am continually improving my practice, as I am able to positively respond to constructive feedback and implement changes in my practice based on that feedback. As I develop my clinical skills in work as an occupational therapist, I hope to eventually supervise occupational therapy students in order to continually develop my practice management skills.
