As an occupational therapist, it is important to value clients' needs to help clients fully engage in meaningful occupation.  It is crucial to be able to use communication, professionalism, and initiative to determine these needs, and use responsibility in implementing change using clinical reasoning that is grounded in evidence-based practice.  As a professional, I hope to embody the above traits in order to ensure the best standard of care for clients.

Personal

I have always strived to challenge myself.  As a wilderness canoe tripper, and a competitive ski racer and swimmer, I find that confronting physical and mental limitations are a way to connect with my internal drive and motivation to engage in activity.  In order to continually improve in occupational therapy practice, I believe it is important to use that drive to deliver the best possible care to clients.  By establishing strong therapeutic rapport in a trusting client-therapist relationship, I will be able to use my experience in order to enable clients to engage in change and meaningful occupation.
